Common problems

Fixes for the issues we see most often across PDF, Word, Excel, and OCR conversions.

  • Copied text from PDF is gibberish

The PDF uses a custom-encoded font subset without a /ToUnicode mapping.

  • Excel dates are off by four years

You imported a file saved on macOS Excel 2008 or earlier — it uses the 1904 date system.

  • Formatting is lost after PDF → Word

The PDF was not tagged, so paragraph and heading structure had to be inferred from geometry.

  • OCR drops Slovak/Czech diacritics

The language pack is set to English-only.

  • Conversion is slow on large files

All processing runs in your browser. Big files mean long CPU work.
